Summer Here We Come!

Ahh - things are winding down around here. Today was the last time I will have to pick up Audrey up from school in order to get her to dance on time (for this school year anyway) which is GREAT because that means no more waking Allison from nap to go sit in a gym and wait for her sister to be released. Can I tell you how moronic the pick up procedure is here? They don't have a drive thru carpool system. You can drive thru to drop your kid off but if you want to pick them up you have to park in the parking lot, walk through all the buses coming in topick up kids, check in and show ID at a desk, and then sit and wait in the gym for your child to come to you. Then you have to exit through a specific door and if there is a class passing through the hallway at the same time you are trying to leave the building they will not let you through. Seriously, there are adults there who will put their arms out to stop you or even grab you and hold you back - I have seen it done! It is INSANE!

Anyway - on to happier thoughts .... Amy finished up pre-school May 16. We had our last American Heritage girls meeting May19. Amy had her last dance class on Tuesday, Audrey's last dance class was tonight. Audrey has dance class pictures on Saturday, Amy has dance class pictures and a small recital at the studio on Sunday. Then we are done with dance until the fall. Audrey's last day of school is one week from today, Wednesday, June 4. We will probably do swim lessons again but if I get us into Session 1 (we are wait listed since we are non-members)those don't start until mid-June. So I get almost two weeks of not having to have my kids anywhere at a specific time. YEE-HAW!!!!

We plan on kicking off the summer with a small party at our house on June 7th. (you are all invited of course) Allison turns two on the 9th but with no family near by and no real close friends with younger kids - we're skipping a big birthday party. Plus, I really don't want more toys - there is pretty much nothing Allison doesn't already have. So we're having an open ended backyard get together. The St. Max Festival will be going on at the Catholic church our neighborhood backs up to. You can walk to the festival from our house. So we're offering up our house as a before or after stop on the way to or from the festival. There will be drinks, snack food a-plenty, burgers and dogs for those who stay for dinner, and sprinklers, squirt guns and water balloons for the kids IF it is warm enough. What? Warm enough? It's going to be June?!?!?! Yeah - well I have yet to run my AC and this morning it was 47 when Audrey went to the bus stop with a WIND CHILL of 41!!!! It only got to maybe 72 today! Oh how I miss Texas!!!
