Getting Dressed

Ok, I know I know, I should count myself lucky to have three girls and three pretty amazing girls.

BUT NEXT TIME

I want just one boy!

Have you ever tried to get yourself and three girls dressed and ready in the morning? Dolores - are you reading? You must share your secrets with me.

It is enough to drive me over the edge some days.

Take today for example:

It is Sunday and David is at work so I am doing church on my own. The skies look ready for rain so I want to leave early so as to ensure that we get a good parking spot. I get my make up on, I get my outfit ironed and on. And then I lay out choices for the girls on their beds. And here's where the fun starts:

Allison decides she wants a "pretty dress" - apparently the ones I laid out are not. She picks out her Easter dress instead. A sun dress that fit her pretty near to perfect at Easter and still fits now but is a little snug. Amy sees Allison in her Easter dress and decides she wants to wear hers as well. Never mind that it is SEPTEMBER 20 and we live in OHIO where there is actually a fall season. So then comes time for shoes. Allison picks out her white ruffle socks which is good b/c then I can simply put on her white leather mary janes and she's done. But then she decides her white socks are bugging her and comes down with a pair of burnt orange socks (her dress is varying shades of teal polka dots on a white background and even though the Horns did beat the Red Raiders last night, I cannot give in to the orange socks) Then she tries to get me to go for a pair of lavender socks. I eventually convince her that the white socks really are the best choice. Amy asks what shoes she should wear and I tell her to get her brown shoes (They are sort of a ballet flat/mary jane mix, not the best match for a bright pink dress but Amy lost her summer sandals and it is SEPTEMBER) However, Amy pairs these with white ruffle socks which should be folded over but she has instead pulled straight up) GOD HELP ME!!!!! Audrey is my saving grace today. She is in a green cotton shirt with a lettuce edge ruffle around the neckline, a denim skirt and her brown leather boots. And while it would look better with leggings or tights under the skirt, it still looks pretty cute. She even found a ribbon belt that actually has a green stripe in it that matches the green shirt.

I would take a picture of my odd group but ..... they'll ask why and when I say that I am questioning their outfits all sorts of meltdowns and hysteria will ensue ........

Really ... one boy .... one kid that wouldn't scream when I brushed his hair, one kid that would wear simple outfits ........ I just wanted one ......
