No school AGAIN!!!

That is what my back deck looks like this morning - Wednesday, February 4. The snow started falling around 1:45 yesterday but it wasn't bad, not even really sticking. By 2:30 it was accumulating, by 3:00 I couldn't see the road in front of my house. At 3:30 they started dismissing the kids but didn't bother to call and tell the parents that (grrrrr) However, Allison was asleep, I was on the phone with my dad, I am NOT good at driving in snow, and I had to tutor at 4 so I probably wouldn't have gone to pick the kids up anyway. In hindsight - I wish I had left here around 2:45 to go get them. I sat here tutoring watching the snow pile up outside the office window. Watching for the buses and checking the school website. Audrey's bus usually gets here by 4:07, Amy's by 4:35. At 4:45 neither of them was home. A little after 5 Amy made it home. She told me the main road to our neighborhood was closed and they had to take the long way home. I called Jerri in a panic. Audrey's class had a field trip scheduled to see a play at the high school at 2:00. I was terrified they had never made it back to the school and they were overturned in a ditch. (yes, I can go from zero to full on, worst case scenario panic in about 2 seconds flat, thank you very much!) Jerri talked me down off the ledge and prompted me to call the school. The secretary was SOOOOO nice. She tracked down Audrey for me and let me know she was still at the school, her bus had yet to make it through the snow and get to the school to pick them up. I then called Judy. Judy grew up here. Judy has 7 kids. Judy would know what to do. As Judy and I are debating how to rescue the children, Rebecca calls on her cell phone. She is at the school and wants to know if I want her to bring Audrey home with her. Thank you JESUS Rebecca JUST got a fancy new car with 4 wheel drive!!! I tell her YES, she can bring Audrey home and also ask her to try and find Judy's 2 kids and see if she can either bring them as well or find another neighbor who can bring them. At 5:35 Rebecca pulls in the driveway. David didn't get home until 7:30.

I am so sick of winter. I am so sick of the cold (it was 10 degrees here this morning!!!!) I am so sick of this mess. And I am so sick of snow days. The kids have now missed NINE DAYS!

Please Lord, grant my husband an awesome job in the future that also happens to be located BELOW the Mason-Dixon line!!!
