On the bright side ....

Ok - so yesterday was just not my best day. I was still in a funk from our cancelled dinner party, mom's birthday, dad's news ... I kind of felt pummeled there for a bit. But today I have a better outlook.

I talked with Seth for almost an hour last night while he was looking up all sorts of info on Prostate Cancer which made us both feel better.

David also cheered me up last night. I know it sounds dorky but he bought me an elliptical machine. I cancelled my gym membership back in October and I did keep up the morning walks for a while. But then fall became winter and there was no way I was going to be hauling my butt out of bed at 6:30 in the morning to walk when the temps went below ... oh let's say 40. Call me wimpy if you want but I don't like the cold and yes, I think 40 is cold. So the deal was if I cancelled my membership - David would let me pick out an elliptical to have at the house so I could still get some sort of cardio. I had been shopping around but never really found one I was in love with - we saw a place that sold them for what I thought was a decent price and yesterday - before I even had a chance to tell him about my dad he offered to meet us at the store after he got off work and let me pick one out. They didn't have one at the store last night but it was there today and after lunch the girls and I went to pick it up. Hopefully David and I can get it assembled over the weekend and I can start using it next week.

Tonite is New Years Eve and while we don't have any huge plans I still think it will be a fun night. We don't have a sitter - they are hard to come by around here. So we will do our usual. We'll either have steak and potatoes for dinner or spaghetti with salad and garlic bread (depends on if David feels like grilling or not). We have poppers and streamers and noise makers and glow bracelets and sparklers and silly hats. The kids have sparkling grape juice and David and I have a bottle of champagne. There are chips and crackers and pretzels and apples and grapes. The kids got two new movies at Wal-Mart but I couldn't find one for David and I, so we'll have to settle for Pay Per View or one we already have. We have donuts and plenty of eggs and bacon for breakfast tomorrow. Allison is napping right now and the older two are resting (but I suspect that Amy is asleep and possibly Audrey as well) They are going to try and stay up tonite. I think the latest Amy has ever made it is 9:30 and Audrey I think made it to 10:15 one year? maybe even 10:30? No matter what I'm sure we'll have fun. If I get any good pictures, I'll be sure to share them.
