Allison is NOT happy with the change. She spent most of last week acting out, being defiant, refusing to nap, refusing to sleep at night. ARGH! At night it is getting ridiculous. She wakes up and comes to her door. If I don't hear her and come to her she waits and waits until she eventually falls asleep in the hallway, usually head to head with Martha - the cat she is allergic too...... Her school starts September 15 and I am hoping it helps alleviate some of her unhappiness. Allison will only go Tues and Thurs and only from 9:30-12. But it will be something that is all her own and she will hopefully make some new friends.
So far it seems like school is going well for Audrey and Amy. Both seem happy with their teachers. Amy doesn't say much but I think she is enjoying her classmates. It seems like perhaps Audrey likes her teacher more than her classmates. Her two BFF's from last year are in another class and she only sees them briefly at lunch and recess. There are some sweet girls in her class that we know from dance and I am sure there are others she can become friends with as well. But alas, Audrey is like her mom and resists any kind of change at first. And I also heard the first "I just want to fit in" from Audrey.
Thursday was also the first day back to dance class. Both girls are on the same night this year. SCORE one for mom! Their classes looked awfully big - Amy has 16 girls in her class and Audrey has 13. I'm hoping it kind of thins out as the year wears on.
This week we start football practice; Audrey on Tuesday evenings from 6-7 and Amy on Wednesday evening from 5-6. So two different nights and two different teams BUT the practices are close by this year so that will be nice.
Today was the first Monday of the new school year and we handled it pretty well. Amy slept in a little but she was still dressed and ready by the time the bus came. Of course they go to school so insanely late here that it is pretty hard to miss the bus. Amy's comes at 8:58 and Audrey's comes around 9:10. I'm hoping they start getting home earlier once everyone settles into their routine. As it stands now I will have to pick them both up on AHG Mondays and every Thursday. AHG meetings begin at 4:30 and dance begins at 5 and the buses have been getting them home after 4:30. My problem is that both schools dismiss at 4:00 and both schools require parents to park, walk in and sign their kids out. It's ridiculous. So obviously I can't be at both schools at 4:00. I got an earful from the secretary at Audrey's school on Thursday. I explained the situation to both schools and neither has a solution for me and both want me to pick up at their school first. ARGH! Stupid Ohio and their stupid schools!!!!! Stupid, stupid, STUPID!!!!!! I'm just going to hope that it all gets worked out as we all get settled into our school year routines. Maybe the bus situation will improve. Last year I only picked up Amy b/c Audrey's bus was home by 4:15. Maybe I can find a fellow AHG mom at one of the schools to pick up either Audrey or Amy and bring her to the meeting.
All in all I think it is going to be a great Fall. I feel like every year I get a little better at managing things. Every year I get a little better at prepping myself for the winter. And even though David will be sucked into that hellish WMS situation at work for most of September and October, I feel like we are doing a good job planning ahead and prepping for the strain it will put on us. I stand boldly here and say BRING IT ON FALL! I'M READY! .... I think .... I hope .....
(and if not bring on the red wine, bring on the Bailey's ... I'm only human after all)
