So each Monday both girls have library time at school. And what they bring home has become so very predictable.
Amy almost always has some sort of "I Spy" book. If you know Amy this makes perfect sense. Amy loves to draw and when she does she loves to add all sorts of tiny details which when she explains them, reveal an amazing story behind her picture. Amy also lives in a world of fiction, much like her mother, and the pictures in these I Spy books usually have a bit of a fantastical or imaginary feel to them.
Audrey on the other hand lives in a world of non-fiction, much like her dad. Audrey is all about the facts. She prefers to eat her breakfast in front of the Today Show and I can already guess that she will be a fan of talk radio, just like dad. Earlier in the football season she brought home non-fiction books about her favorite teams or teams we had watched and discussed on Sunday. (Poor baby couldn't understand why there were so many Ohio State books and yet no University of Texas books ......) But now she is in to foreign language. So far she has brought home Easy French, My First 1000 words in Italian and this week it is Easy German. How very like Audrey - and you know what scares me, I wouldn't put it past her to actually be reading and learning from these ....... Thank goodness this week it's language I actually know. I did my best to make it through Italian and French but man!!! it's rough when she comes and asks me "What does this say? I want to know how to say _________ in ________ . Can you read it to me?"
So what do we think Allison will check out from the library when she gets to school. Well - let me just tell you that while I was typing this I heard a kitchen chair being dragged across the floor. I called out "Allison, do you need my help?" "Uh-huh" was the reply I got. I then walked around the corner towards the kitchen to see that she had pulled the chair up in front of David's Beer Tender!!! "I need this" she tells me "This mommy, I need this" ..... So I'm thinking I don't WANT to know what books Allison will be checking out and maybe, just maybe, I'll simply be glad she's in school and at the library and not organizing the first Kindergarten Kegger for our neighborhood!!!!!!
